Job Assistant

As an Assistant HVAC Construction Project Manager and Safety Manager, the qualified candidate will plan, direct, or coordinate, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and help oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. Support and create safer construction sites while facilitating compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Essential Functions

  • Assist in review of project design changes
  • Aid or coordinate survey work with other project activities
  • Review projects before installation to ensure successful installation
  • Support job sites visits and report the progress
  • Help initiate and communicate change orders
  • Coordinate with Sales Admin regarding any changes that come up during installation process
  • Address installation issues in the timely manner
  • Determines what Safety policies are needed and how to enforce them.
  • Responsible for keeping Safety policies up to date, meeting the latest standards and establishing new ones from time to time as more and newer risks are discovered.
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
  • Review existing safety policies and measures and update according to legislation
  • Initiate and organize OHSA training of employees and executives
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management

  • Understanding of basic budgeting and forecasting terms and definitions
  • Requires strong computer knowledge, understanding of blueprints and ability to read construction drawings.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Record-keeping skills
